Gayl J. Canfield, PhD, RDN, LDN Pembroke Pines
Gayl Canfield is a registered and licensed dietitian. She has over 25 years of experience in the nutrition/dietetics field, and is an expert in providing individuals and groups with the nutrition knowledge, skills, and tools needed to be successful in achieving their personal goals as well as their medical goals. She utilizes a “non-diet” approach and is able to customize her nutrition advice to fit any lifestyle.
Gayl is passionate about helping others learn about nutrition and eating healthy. "My proudest moments as a dietitian occur when one of my clients cheerfully reports that their blood pressure is now controlled without medication, or their cholesterol level is now normal, or that they no longer have to take medication for their diabetes.”
Dr. Canfield grew up in Oklahoma, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics, and her Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition. She earned a PhD in Nutrition Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1995. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Language fluency: Spanish and English.
Much of her career was spent in academia, teaching nutrition at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. For the last 10 years, she has shared her nutrition expertise with individuals and groups in wellness, disease risk reduction, and prevention. Some of her specialties include:
